Ranger and Evinrude Pro Gary Key was born and raised in San Diego, CA., then moved to Texas in 1991 to pursue a career in tournament bass fishing. Gary serves on the national ‘Fish to Cure Diabetes’ team and his participation with the B.A.S.S. Federation involves him with ‘Casting for Kids’ and other community related events. Currently Gary, his wife Lorie and their 5 children reside in Phoenix, AZ.
During the 9 years He spent in Texas, Gary won several tournaments with various circuits, and qualified for several championships including the Media Bass ‘Megabucks’ style 10-hole championship. He consistently finished in the top 10 in both tournaments and YTD standings. Gary has appeared in B.A.S.S. Times, FLW Magazine, various newspapers, and websites including flwoutdoors.com, and fishingworld.com. This year Gary made 2 top-ten appearances in the FLW Everstart Western Division and won the 2005 Everstart Western Division ‘Angler of the Year’ title on the co-angler side.
As a result of Gary's high finish, he qualified for the FLW Everstart Championship at Pickwick Lake, Alabama. In the B.A.S.S. Federation for 2005, Gary qualified for the 2006 ‘State Team’ and will travel to the B.A.S.S. Regional Championship in May of 06'. Gary also won Angler of the Year in his B.A.S.S. Federation affiliated club this season.
In 2006, Gary will be fishing the FLW Western Division Stren Series as a professional, and the Arizona B.A.S.S. Federation. Gary also picks up local team tournaments in the Phoenix valley.
Gary currently runs a 2006 Ranger Z-20, with a 225 Evinrude E-Tec HO, and of course a KeelShield hull guard!
