With chilly temperatures, overcast skies, and a 12 – 15 mph wind Scott Dean of Terrell, TX was able to find a small area of fish and pull out a nice 21.60 pound stringer to take the win for the third consecutive year on Lake Palestine. Dean said he caught all of his fish on a 50 yard stretch of bank he had found the week before while fishing another tournament. “Last week everything I caught was 2 ½ pounds and I was hoping the bigger females would move up for this tournament.” Dean stated, “And they did” he said with a smile. Dean caught his fish on a combination of a ¾ ounce white and chartreuse spinnerbait and an 8” black neon lizard all in 3 foot of water or less.
Russell Lee of Ennis, TX came in second place with 18.08 and Ryan Warren of Gatesville, TX came in 3rd with 15.97. Rounding out the five were Bobby Jacobs of Irving, TX with 15.85 and Danny Wims of Rockwall, TX with 14.89lbs. Todd Pierce of Tyler, TX was the big bass winner with a nice 7.26 lb monster.
The co-angler winner was Kelly Ferguson of Royce, TX with 11.42lbs, second place went to Chase Florio of Fort Worth, TX with 8.55lbs, third was Tim Johnson from Tyler, TX with 7.68lbs and fourth was Bryson Bean from Frankston, TX with 6.76lbs. Finishing up the top five was Gary Baldwin from Longview, TX with 6.13lbs. Big bass honors went to Chris Stewart of Weatherford, TX with a nice 5.22lb keeper. The next tournament in Division 11 East Texas will be at Lake Tyler on February 15 at the Lake Tyler Marina and the weights are expected to be HEAVY!
