Gonzales getting the first Cabela's retail store in Louisiana.

Cabela's retail store, whose merchandise includes boats and marine and outdoor-related accessories, is opening its first store in Louisiana this fall.

This will be the store’s 21st retail location in the United States.

The 175,000-square-foot, large-format destination store is located between Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

"We are thrilled that Gonzales will be Cabela's first Louisiana location," said Dennis Highby, Cabela's president and chief executive officer, in a statement. "The Gulf Coast region is a corridor of rapid retail and commercial growth, which is complemented by the many passionate hunters, anglers, campers and outdoor recreation enthusiasts who live in the area and well as the many visitors who travel through it."

The Gonzales store will be built in Cabela's trademark style that showcases the best of the outdoors. Equivalent to nearly three football fields in size, Cabela's provides unique attractions for every member of the family, including a boat showroom and maintenance shop and a fly fishing shop
